Software Developer – ServiceNow Platform
Permanent software engineering role (3–5 years) for a bilingual developer in Japan (remote/WFH in Tokyo) to build custom applications, workflows, and integrations on the ServiceNow platform. The focus is on strong programming and software design fundamentals (especially modern JavaScript) to develop APIs and automation solutions; ServiceNow-specific development will be taught via a structured 4–6 week training program. Essential
Required Qualifications
3+ years professional software development experience
Strong programming in at least one: JavaScript/Node.js, Java, or C#
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts
Modern JavaScript (ES6+)
Asynchronous programming (promises, async/await)
JSON data structures and JSON-based data exchange
Software design principles
Design patterns (MVC, Factory, Strategy, Observer)
Ability to write clean, maintainable, modular code
Frontend experience with React.js or Vue.js
HTML5, CSS3, responsive UI development
REST APIs
API-based system integration concepts
Git (or other version control)
Agile development practices familiarity
Debugging and problem-solving skills
Ability and willingness to learn ServiceNow via 4–6 week training
Japanese (native) and English skills (bilingual requirement)
Preferred
Nice to Have
Exposure to enterprise platforms or workflow systems
Experience building automation or workflow-driven systems
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Familiarity with unit testing
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks
ServiceNow module exposure: ITSM, ITOM, CSM, HRSD, IRM (implementation/customization)
ServiceNow App Engine exposure (prior experience preferred but not required)
