Software Developer / Cloud DevOps Engineer (Backend - Node.js/TypeScript, AWS, IoT)

Contract role in Pune for a 5–10 years backend-focused Software Developer / Cloud DevOps Engineer to build and operate cloud-native, event-driven microservices and APIs for IoT Core and connectivity services. The consultant will primarily develop backend services in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js), with some Java or Go as needed, and own the full lifecycle including design, coding, testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, operations and continuous improvement on AWS and Kubernetes (preferably EKS).

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing.

Design, develop, test and maintain cloud-native backend services primarily in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js), with complementary development in Java or Go where needed.

Build scalable, efficient, secure and resilient services for customer-facing digital products and connected devices.

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations that enable reliable communication between services and client applications.

Work with distributed microservices, event-based communication and IoT-related technologies, including AMQP brokers and transport protocols such as AMQP, HTTP and gRPC.

Design and implement data solutions using MongoDB, Valkey, SQL databases and AWS RDS, selecting and optimizing storage patterns for the relevant use case.

Develop and operate workloads on AWS using services such as API Gateway, HTTP APIs, WebSocket APIs, NLB/ALB, ElastiCache and RDS. 1 (3)

Work with Kubernetes, preferably EKS, as well as containerized and serverless deployment patterns.

Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code; participate actively in code reviews, automated testing and quality improvement.

Contribute to infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, deployment automation and operational maintenance.

Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, security, observability and operational quality.

Collaborate with engineers, the Service Architect, Product Owner, Squad Lead and other stakeholders to understand requirements and implement pragmatic technical solutions.

Take ownership of assigned solutions and contribute to architectural improvements, automation, resilience and the reduction of technical debt.
