Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing.

Define how RADAR, SIGINT EO/IR target data can be interfaced with the ship's weapon/gun system.

Work closely with the software and system-integration teams to develop appropriate interfaces, data flows and integration logic.

Advise the software team on Target detection, identification, track coordinates and management, sensor-to-weapon cueing, Weapon engagement workflow, Multiple-target handling and prioritisation

Identify and document the technical requirements and interface requirements of Closed Loop Remote Weapons Stations.

Support development of ICDs, interface protocols, data formats, message structures and integration requirements, in coordination with the technical team and equipment OEMs/user agencies.

Support system integration, simulation, testing and harbour/ship trials.

Analyse integration issues during testing and provide technical recommendations for resolution.

Interface with ship staff and weapon-system personnel to understand existing system architecture and operational requirements.

Translate operational gunnery requirements into clear technical and software requirements for the simulations & software development team.

Support preparation of technical documentation, test procedures, trial plans and system demonstration requirements.

Essential

Required Qualifications

Shipborne gunnery / naval gun systems knowledge

Fire Control Systems (FCS) integration with naval guns

Combat Management System (CMS) / Battle Management System (BMS) architecture understanding

Weapon system integration: interfaces, data flows, integration logic

ICD development (interface control documents)

Interface protocols, data formats, message structures definition/support

Sensor-to-weapon cueing and target engagement workflow knowledge (detection, identification, tracking, prioritisation)

Integration testing and troubleshooting during trials (harbour acceptance/sea/weapon trials)

Coordination with OEMs/user agencies and ship staff for interface/architecture requirements

Preferred

Nice to Have

Experience with EO/IR system integration on ships

Experience interfacing radar target data to weapon systems

Experience interfacing SIGINT data to weapon systems

Closed-loop Remote Weapon Station (RWS) interface requirements documentation

Simulation support for integration/testing

Commissioning and post-commissioning technical support of naval gun systems

Certified/experienced in design/installation/commissioning of shipborne gun systems
