Senior Tech Lead contractor needed to own end-to-end delivery of Opella’s IPS (Industrial Product Sourcing) application, extending an existing prototype into a production-ready system. The role is hands-on full-stack (React/TypeScript/NestJS/PostgreSQL) plus DevOps on Azure (Container Apps, managed PostgreSQL, Key Vault, Entra ID, networking patterns), with responsibility for architecture, infrastructure, CI/CD, testing, cutover to production, and post-go-live support. Requires 8+ years engineering experience, mentoring capability, strong quality/testing mindset, and practical use of AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot/Claude) to accelerate delivery within enterprise governance and documentation standards.

What You'll Be Doing.

Technical Ownership & Delivery – Own solution architecture, infrastructure, and deployment on Opella's target Azure environment, as well as code quality; build and extend the application directly using AI-assisted coding tools; report into Opella's technical organization for technical governance.

Project Organisation & Planning – Plan and run the project day-to-day (scheduling, tracking, coordination), reporting status and priorities to the business lead.

Requirements – Translate finalized business requirements and user stories into a buildable technical design; identify and escalate gaps rather than making assumptions.

Design & Build – Extend the existing prototype into a complete, production-ready application.

Testing – Perform all types of testing to ensure the application is ready for production release.

Cutover — Including migration from the current prototype environment to the production environment.

A standardized framework for the application that follows opella standards and guidelines

Successfully delivered first applications built using AI-assisted workflows, with documented learnings.

Required Qualifications

8+ years software engineering experience

Tech lead ownership of end-to-end delivery (architecture, build, deployment)

Full-stack engineering: ReactJS, TypeScript/JavaScript

React Router v7

Backend: NestJS

Database: PostgreSQL

CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and Git branching/release practices

Docker

Azure Container Apps

Azure hosting components: managed PostgreSQL, Key Vault, Entra ID (identity/SSO)

Monitoring/logging on Azure (working knowledge)

Enterprise networking patterns: application gateways, private endpoints (working knowledge)

Infrastructure as Code: Terraform

DevOps practices

Hands-on use of AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) in real projects

Testing (all types), maintainability, performance focus

Ability to plan/run delivery with minimal oversight
