Senior Native Android Developer (Kotlin, BLE / Connected Devices)

Senior Native Android Developer needed to build and support a connected-device Android app that communicates with smart hardware over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and integrates with AWS-hosted cloud services via REST/GraphQL. The role owns feature development, performance/bug fixes, production support, testing, and release management, working closely with Cloud, Firmware, DevOps, and QA. Deep hands-on BLE implementation (GATT, scanning/filtering, MTU, reliable transfer, queue management, encryption) plus strong Android architecture (MVVM/Clean), coroutines/Flow, persistence (Room), security (JWT/SSL pinning), and CI/CD are required.

Required Qualifications

Native Android development with Kotlin and Android SDK

Hands-on Android Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) implementation (scanning, filtering, connection, service discovery, GATT services/characteristics, communication, disconnection)

BLE operation queue management/prioritization; retries and reconnection strategies

MTU negotiation and packet-size limits; Notify vs Indicate; acknowledgements and reliable byte-level transfer

Ciphering/encrypted device communication; awareness of Android 12+ Bluetooth/location permission changes

Jetpack Compose and XML/View system; Material Design

Concurrency with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow (StateFlow/SharedFlow); structured concurrency; thread-safety and race-condition handling

Architecture: MVVM and Clean Architecture; Use Cases/domain layer and unit testing

Dependency Injection with Hilt/Dagger

Background/long-running work: WorkManager, foreground/background services; Doze/app-standby; surviving process death

Networking: REST and GraphQL integration; timeouts; parallel calls; response caching

Security: token-based auth (JWT, refresh tokens/expiry), SSO/Cognito or similar; SSL/certificate pinning; secure credential storage

Data persistence: Room (Entity/DAO/Database); data migration and integrity across updates; secure storage for sensitive data

Testing: unit and UI tests (JUnit, Espresso/Kaspresso)

Observability: Firebase Crashlytics and analytics-driven debugging; handling hard-to-reproduce production issues

Build/release: Gradle, Android Studio; CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane); app distribution (Firebase App Distribution/Google Play); release management and store submission

Performance optimization including large lists (RecyclerView/ListAdapter/Paging) and poor-network scenarios; caching strategies/eviction/TTL; bulk DB writes
