Event-driven system design — has built or maintained a system where two runtimes communicate by event systems, polling, and can reason about ordering, at-least-once delivery, and replay

SQL fluency — reads and writes non-trivial Postgres queries directly across two codebases hitting the same database; knows when to push work into SQL versus application code

Scheduler internals — has run a production job scheduler (APScheduler, Quartz, Airflow, or similar) and debugged a missed or double-fired run, not just configured one from a tutorial

LLM application experience —Experienced in Agent frameworks and has shipped something that turns unstructured text into a structured, bounded decision, and understands why that output needs guardrails before it touches a financial system

API/webhook integration — has wired a third-party platform (voice, messaging, or similar) into a backend via webhooks and understands the failure modes: retries, out-of-order delivery, partial data

Judgment about deterministic vs. AI — instinctively treats the AI layer as advisory input to existing rules, not a replacement for them

Essential
Required Qualifications
Production full-stack/backend experience in both Python and Java (not one as secondary)
Python: FastAPI and ownership of batch/scheduled jobs
Java: Spring Boot API development
Event-driven system design between runtimes (events and/or polling)
Reasoning about ordering, at-least-once delivery, and replay in event systems
SQL fluency with PostgreSQL (write/read non-trivial queries; decide SQL vs app logic)
Production job scheduler experience and debugging missed/double-fired runs (APScheduler, Quartz, Airflow, or similar)
Software design patterns: idempotency, partitioning, mapper, factory, IoC/DI
LLM application experience: agent frameworks; turning unstructured text into structured bounded decisions
Guardrails for LLM outputs before impacting financially sensitive systems
API/webhook integration with third-party platforms; handling retries, out-of-order delivery, partial data
Judgment on deterministic rules vs AI (AI as advisory input, not replacement)

Exposure to collections, credit, or dunning workflows
Experience with voice-agent platforms (HappyRobot, Bland, Retell, Vapi, or similar)
