Retail Supply Chain Simulation & Optimization Consultant (Grocery)
Contract role in Bengaluru for a 5–7 year retail consulting/analytics professional focused on grocery/food & beverage supply chains. Translate loosely defined business questions into clear work plans and detailed simulation scenarios, specifying inputs, policy levers, assumptions, constraints, outputs and KPIs in an implementation-ready format.

Analyse retail and supply chain data to establish baselines, identify patterns and performance gaps, test hypotheses, assess scenarios and quantify potential impact across availability, inventory, waste, cost, margin and service.

Partner with data science and engineering teams to validate data availability and quality, align modelling assumptions and ensure each use case reflects operating processes, system constraints and business rules.

Lead stakeholder engagement across business, product, technology and data science teams by facilitating workshops, managing competing priorities, constructively challenging assumptions and driving decisions on scope, value and success criteria.

Develop concise, client-ready outputs—including problem statements, analyses, recommendations, business cases, executive presentations and implementation roadmaps—that communicate complex findings clearly to senior audiences.

Support execution on the simulation platform by reviewing outputs, validating results with subject-matter experts, refining scenarios based on evidence and feedback, and tracking whether recommendations deliver measurable business value. What we are looking for

Essential
Required Qualifications
Grocery or food & beverage retail supply chain knowledge (planning, procurement, logistics, store operations)
End-to-end retail value chain understanding (forecasting, inventory/replenishment, fulfillment, logistics, store ops)
Structured problem solving (issue trees, hypotheses, trade-offs, constraints, success measures)
Quantitative analysis on large/imperfect datasets (baseline, root-cause, scenario analysis, impact sizing)
Simulation scenario design (inputs, assumptions, constraints, policy levers, outputs, KPIs)
Statistical analysis and mathematical modeling using Python or R or SAS
Simulation and/or optimization tools/libraries (PuLP, Gurobi, SimPy or equivalent)
Advanced Excel (Solver, pivot tables, VBA macros)
Working knowledge of SQL (data extraction/querying)
Stakeholder management and workshop facilitation; influencing without authority
Executive-level communication (problem statements, business cases, presentations, roadmaps)
Retail space/range/assortment impact simulation experience (space, range, assortment decisions)
Planogram/space planning experience (space plans, planograms; collaboration with merchandising/supply chain)
