OT/IT Warehouse Technology Integration Engineer (Contract)

Contract role in Barcelona for an OT/IT integration engineer to deliver warehouse technology implementations across warehouse, cold storage, and transportation environments. The focus is integrating OT devices (RF/scanners, rugged tablets, printers, RFID) and industrial automation/control systems (PLC/SCADA/HMI/MES) with operational and enterprise platforms (WMS/YMS such as Manhattan SCALE and Körber/HighJump) using industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, EtherNet/IP) and APIs. The role also covers OT network design (wireless surveys, LAN/WAN, edge/on-prem/cloud connectivity), OT cybersecurity (segmentation and ISA/IEC 62443-aligned controls), and hands-on delivery through testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational handover while coordinating multiple teams and vendors; on-site 5 days/week with up to ~40% travel.

What You'll Be Doing.

Strong knowledge of warehouse OT device integration, including OT compute, RF/scanning devices, rugged tablets, barcode scanners, label printing, RFID, and device management platforms such as SOTI or other MDM solutions.

Experience integrating industrial automation/control systems with operational and enterprise platforms, including PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, MES, WMS/YMS applications such as Manhattan SCALE and Korber/HighJump, APIs, edge connectivity, and related data flows.

Experience with OT network design and implementation, including wireless surveys, troubleshooting, WAN/LAN, industrial networking, cloud, on-premises, and edge compute/network architecture for warehouse and automation environments.

Knowledge of industrial communication and integration patterns, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, APIs, edge data flows, and platform connectivity across OT, automation, and enterprise systems.

Ability to ensure technology solutions follow organisation governance, frameworks, standards, and operational control requirements.

Experience creating and executing work packages, coordinating technical and non-technical teams, and guiding delivery through troubleshooting, integration testing, supplier testing, commissioning, and operational handover.

Proven ability to partner with Project Managers and Operational Managers, manage multiple concurrent priorities, resolve interdependencies, drive challenging situations to closure, and deliver solutions within committed timelines.

Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to establish, develop, and maintain relationships with technical and non-technical leaders, local support teams, vendors, and operations.

Comfortable working with regional and local technology teams in alignment with company workplace expectations, including being in the office five days per week, while also traveling extensively throughout the assigned geographical territory when needed, up to approximately 40%.

Required Qualifications

Hands-on warehouse technology implementation and integration across warehouse/cold storage/transportation environments

OT device integration: OT compute, RF/scanning devices, rugged tablets, barcode scanners, label printing, RFID

Device management/MDM for rugged/warehouse devices (e.g., SOTI or similar)

Industrial automation/control systems integration: PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI

Integration with operational/enterprise platforms: MES and WMS/YMS (including Manhattan SCALE and/or Körber/HighJump)

API-based integration and understanding of edge connectivity/data flows between OT, automation, and enterprise systems

OT network design and implementation: wireless surveys, troubleshooting, WAN/LAN, industrial networking

Industrial communication protocols/patterns: EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT

OT cybersecurity fundamentals: network segmentation, protective controls, security-by-design aligned to ISA/IEC 62443

Delivery execution: work packages, integration testing, supplier testing, commissioning, operational handover

Strong troubleshooting across device/print/wireless/network/integration issues

Ability to coordinate technical and non-technical teams and manage interdependencies to closure
