Linux System Administrator – Remote Desktop Infrastructure (VDI/HPC)
Contract role for an experienced Linux System Administrator to design, build and run a GPU-enabled remote desktop/VDI platform used for HPC pre/post processing (visualization, rendering, simulations). The environment is Rocky Linux/RHEL-based and uses X11 + Xfce4 with NICE DCV, EnginFrame (EF Portal) and SLURM. Strong focus on automation/IaC (Ansible), scripting (Bash; Python advantage), Git/GitLab CI/CD, and ensuring security, scalability, performance, monitoring (Prometheus preferred) and maintainable architecture. We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator with a strong focus on automation, architecture, and platform engineering to design, build, and maintain our Remote Desktop (VDI) environment.

Design, deploy, and maintain a Linux-based GPU-enabled Remote Desktop environment (DCV, EnginFrame, SLURM, X11, Xfce4 on Rocky Linux).

Develop automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), primarily using Ansible, to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments.

Ensure security, scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability of the platform.

Collaborate closely with HPC and Infrastructure Engineering teams.

Document architecture, configurations, deployment workflows, and operational procedures.

Solid experience as a Linux System Administrator, ideally with Rocky Linux or RHEL.

Strong automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) skills, preferably using Ansible or similar tools.

Proficiency in scripting, primarily Bash; Python is considered an advantage.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git and GitLab.

Understanding of X11, desktop environments (Xfce4, GNOME), and remote rendering/display protocols.
