Kafka Platform Engineer (Strimzi on Kubernetes)
Contract role in Stockholm for a senior Kafka platform engineer to own and operate multi-cluster, multi-region Apache Kafka on Kubernetes (primarily Strimzi). You will drive upgrades, security, resilience/DR, scaling and performance, automate delivery with GitHub Actions/ArgoCD/Helm/Terraform/KEDA, build observability with Prometheus/Grafana/Splunk/Fluent Bit/OpenTelemetry, provide Tier 3 support and RCA, and advise Java/Spring Boot teams on Kafka client design and configuration. Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing.

Drive platform upgrades, security, resilience, disaster recovery, scaling, performance, and cost efficiency.
Automate infrastructure and delivery with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm, Terraform, and KEDA.
Build observability and proactive alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Fluent Bit, or OpenTelemetry.
Provide Tier 3 support, lead root-cause analysis, and advise Java/Spring Boot teams on Kafka client design and configuration.
Create secure self-service tooling for topics, schemas, and credentials, and collaborate with Security, Architecture, and development teams.
Approximately 4–6 years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, Strimzi or equivalent, Kafka Connect, KRaft, Java, and Spring Boot.
Strong platform-level expertise in Kafka clusters, performance, security, schema governance, and operational troubleshooting.
Practical experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Linux, PostgreSQL, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Helm, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD.
Working knowledge of observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Fluent Bit, or OpenTelemetry.
Strong problem-solving skills, a humble and collaborative approach, and comfort with end-to-end operational ownership.
Experience with API management, public cloud platforms, cost optimization, or large-enterprise integration is beneficial.
