JBoss Fuse / Apache Camel Integration Developer (Kafka, SFTP)

Contract role for an integration developer with strong hands-on experience building JBoss Fuse/Apache Camel routes for file-based, batch and API integrations. The work focuses on SFTP/file pickup and processing, Kafka producer/consumer integrations, end-to-end orchestration (e.g., SFTP → Kafka → backend → DB → reconciliation file), data transformation/validation, and robust exception handling with retries, DLQ/error flows, logging and monitoring. The engineer should also integrate with REST/SOAP APIs and databases, implement secure connectivity (SFTP, SSL/TLS, mTLS), and troubleshoot production issues across Fuse routes, Kafka, SFTP and downstream systems.

Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in

Experience developing JBoss Fuse / Apache Camel routes for file-based, batch, and API-based integrations.

Hands-on experience with SFTP/file integrations, including file pickup, validation, processing, archival, error handling, and file transfer.

Experience integrating Apache Camel/Fuse with Kafka, including producing and consuming messages from Kafka topics, consumer groups, message handling, and error/retry scenarios.

Experience implementing end-to-end orchestration, for example: SFTP → Kafka → backend processing → database → response/reconciliation file.

Experience with data transformation and validation within Camel/Fuse routes, including handling different file/message formats.

Experience integrating Apache Camel/Fuse with Kafka for asynchronous and event-driven integrations.

Hands-on experience in Kafka development, including creating/configuring topics, producers, consumers, consumer groups, partitions, offsets, and message processing.

Strong understanding of exception handling, retry, reprocessing, dead-letter/error flows, logging, and monitoring in Camel/Fuse integrations.

Experience integrating Fuse with REST/SOAP APIs and backend databases and coordinating synchronous and asynchronous integration flows.

Experience with secure connectivity, including SFTP, SSL/TLS and mutual TLS where applicable.

Ability to troubleshoot production integration issues across Fuse routes, Kafka, SFTP, APIs, and downstream systems.
