Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing.

Define and govern Event Streaming reference architectures, event-driven design patterns, engineering standards, platform guardrails, and development best practices.

Develop and maintain reusable frameworks, templates, accelerators, and reference implementations, including error handling, logging, monitoring, observability, and security patterns.

Drive the adoption and enforcement of best practices, governance standards, and operational guidelines across Event Streaming platforms and applications.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of Azure Event Hubs and Azure Service Bus, including architecture, capabilities, use cases, and comparative positioning.

Possess practical knowledge of Schema Registry concepts, purpose, implementation approaches, and its role in ensuring data consistency and schema governance.

Hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka, including platform architecture, ecosystem components, and Confluent-specific capabilities and services.

Understand Event Streaming monetization models, service consumption patterns, and cost management strategies. Demonstrate how data and event catalogs can enable discoverability, governance, monetization, and business value realization.

Experience with platform automation and infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), and scripting frameworks.

Strong understanding of CI/CD practices for Event Streaming platforms, including automated deployment, testing, and operational processes using tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps Pipelines.

Ability to articulate and demonstrate real-world Event Streaming use cases, platform implementation experience, architectural trade-offs, and enterprise-scale deployment considerations.

Configure and operate observability solutions using OpenTelemetry (OTEL), covering logging, metrics, distributed tracing, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of distributed event-driven applications.

Strong understanding of platform cost drivers, ROI analysis, and adoption strategies, including licensing, infrastructure, compute/runtime costs, high availability configurations, disaster recovery, active-active and active-passive deployments, OpenShift hosting costs, and operational expenditure.

Kafka architecture fundamentals (topics, partitions, offsets, brokers, clusters, consumer groups)

Hands-on Confluent Kafka platform architecture and ecosystem components

Azure Event Hubs architecture/capabilities and use cases

Azure Service Bus architecture/capabilities and use cases

Schema governance and Schema Registry concepts/implementation approaches

Reference architectures, design patterns, engineering standards, and platform governance/guardrails

Observability for distributed systems using OpenTelemetry (logging, metrics, tracing)

Platform automation and infrastructure provisioning with Terraform

Kubernetes and container platforms (AKS) and Docker

CI/CD for platform and application delivery (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines)

Operational excellence: monitoring, troubleshooting, HA/DR considerations and cost management/ROI
