Data Modeler (Financial Services/Banking)

Seeking a Data Modeler (5–10 years) to drive delivery of conceptual, logical, physical and semantic data models, plus data flows/mappings and metadata artefacts aligned to enterprise standards and governance. The role partners with business, platform and engineering teams across distributed/global programs to translate requirements into solution designs, support developers and production support, and ensure compliance with privacy, regulatory and operational risk controls. Strong data governance, modelling tools (e.g., Erwin/ER Studio/Visual Paradigm), and hands-on exposure to SQL and modern data platforms (EDW, data lakes, Hadoop/Spark/Delta Lake/NoSQL) are required; banking/financial services experience is mandatory, with legal data/operations as a plus.

What You'll Be Doing.

The Data Modeler is responsible for

Driving the delivery of assorted data models.

o Conceptual and Logical models to aid understanding and input to the Group Enterprise Data Models (Group EDMs).

o Physical models to prepare development teams for delivering physical underlying structures.

o Semantic models to promote data delivery consistency.

o Data flow diagrams and data mappings as appropriate to the context may also be required.

o These artefacts are aligned with group standards, IT, and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls.

Implementing ORGANIZATION data governance guidelines, procedures, methods, tools, etc.

o Leverage internal data standards, frameworks, tools and templates

o Comply to internal controls including privacy, storage, movement and usage

o Drive data literacy

o Support data-related audit, regulatory and compliance activities

Required Qualifications

Conceptual, logical and physical data modelling

Semantic data modelling (consistency of data delivery)

Data governance (guidelines, procedures, controls)

Data flow diagrams and data mappings

Metadata management; data management tools and techniques

Requirements elicitation, documentation and verification for data usage

Translating business requirements into solution designs/functional requirements

Hands-on with databases and query engines (SQL)

Exposure to enterprise data warehouses, data lakes and big data platforms

Data ingestion/ETL tools and protocols (hands-on exposure)

Data modelling/architecture tools (Erwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio, Visual Paradigm)

Relational, dimensional, denormalised and NoSQL data design patterns

Hadoop, Spark, Delta Lake (as part of big data platforms)

Programming/scripting exposure: R/Python/Scala (as listed)

Financial Services and Banking domain experience

Working in large, complex, geographically dispersed (multi-time-zone) projects

Ability to challenge designs/decisions; strong analytical/problem-solving skills

Communication skills for virtual collaboration; stakeholder management and approvals

Experience with multi-data-centre architecture

Leadership to articulate/present solutions and obtain approvals

Experience in legal data and legal operations
