BIW Mechanical Assembly & Fixture Maintenance Technician
Contract role based in Bengaluru (on-site, no remote) for a hands-on BIW (Body-in-White) mechanical technician to support automotive production lines. The person will perform mechanical assembly/installation, operate and maintain BIW fixtures/jigs/clamps/gauges, handle pneumatic tools, and troubleshoot breakdowns on fixtures, conveyors, clamps and grippers. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, fixture alignment/correction, supporting line start-ups/changeovers/trials/new model implementation, maintaining maintenance records, and following TPM/5S/Kaizen and safety standards. Requires ITI/Diploma (Mechanical/Fitter/Automobile/Production) with 5+ years relevant BIW/automotive manufacturing experience.

Essential
Required Qualifications
Hands-on BIW (Body-in-White) mechanical assembly and installation on production lines
Operation and handling of BIW fixtures, jigs, clamps, gauges, locating pins, and tooling
Mechanical fixture setup, adjustment, alignment, setting, and correction
Preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance of BIW mechanical equipment
Mechanical troubleshooting of fixtures, conveyors, clamps, grippers, and production equipment
Knowledge of pneumatic systems and use of pneumatic tools
Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems
Ability to use mechanical hand tools and measuring instruments
Basic understanding of engineering drawings and mechanical dimensions/tolerances
Knowledge of BIW production processes and basic welding fixtures
TPM, 5S, Kaizen / continuous improvement practices
Ability to work in shifts and under production targets
Safety compliance and PPE adherence in manufacturing environment
Preferred
Nice to Have
Knowledge of BIW design tools
Experience supporting line start-up, changeover, trial runs, and new model/tooling implementation
Root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring mechanical problems
Experience in automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or high-volume manufacturing plants
Additional technical certification in mechanical maintenance or automotive manufacturing
